Making homemade air fryer toaster strudel has never been easier!

These perfectly flaky toaster strudels are filled with strawberry preserves then air fried to absolute perfection. Store bought puff pastry sheets make this recipe even easier to put together. I love making toaster strudels in the air fryer because I don’t have to heat my entire house up with the oven on hot days. Plus, the kids love helping me make them because they’re adorable but simple. I definitely recommend checking out other recipes for more baked air fryer goodies like these Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Muffins and Air Fryer Twix Cupcakes.

Let’s Talk About The Ingredients

  • Strawberry Preserves – Use strawberry preserves for a thick filling loaded with pieces of strawberries.
  • Egg – Make an egg wash to brush the edges of the puff pastry.
  • Powdered Sugar, Vanilla Extract & Heavy Cream – Mix these ingredients together to make the homemade vanilla icing for topping.
The ingredients needed are puff pastry sheets, strawberry preserves, egg, powdered sugar, vanilla extract and heavy cream.

Handling The Puff Pastry Sheets

Make sure to thaw the puff pastry sheets before using them. I thaw mine in the refrigerator for about 4 hours but you can also review the package instructions for other options. Also, make sure to handle them delicately so you don’t accidentally rupture the pastry.

Cooking Times May Vary

Check on the toaster strudels after 8 minutes to ensure they do not burn. Every air fryer cooks at a different speed and some may need more or less time. Mine were perfectly cooked in 10 minutes.

Storing Suggestions

Store completely cooled toaster strudels by wrapping them up individually in parchment paper and storing inside of an air tight container in the freezer. They will keep for up to 3 months with this method. You can reheat them in the air fryer at a low temperature like 300 degrees F for a few minutes. You can also store them in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Recipe Notes

  • My toaster strudels were ready in 10 minutes but keep an eye on them after 8 minutes to ensure they do not burn as every air fryer may cook at a different speed.
  • Don’t over fill the pastries, otherwise the filling will ooze out and they won’t look as pretty as they should.
  • I like using strawberry preserves as the filling because it’s a lot thicker than jam or jelly and contains pieces of fruit. However, you may substitute for jam or jelly if you don’t have any on hand.
