First, start by preheating the air fryer to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, corn meal, salt, granulated garlic, cayenne pepper, baking powder, baking soda and sugar.
Pour in the buttermilk, oil and add in the egg. Whisk together until fully combined.
Finely grate or mince the onion and fold it into the batter using a spatula so you don’t over mix.
Spray the inside of the air fryer with cooking spray.
Scoop about 2 tbsp of batter into dollops and place inside the air fryer. You may use parchment paper if you’d like just make sure to spray the paper with cooking spray as well.
Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Flip them over for the last minute of cooking. Mine were done in 8 minutes but this may vary depending on the power of your air fryer.
Finally, top with fresh parsley and serve with your favorite dipping sauce and seafood dish.
