Baked Buffalo Chicken Dip

Hot and cheesy baked buffalo chicken dip is made with homemade buffalo sauce, lots of cheddar cheese, garlic and finished off with chopped green scallions. It's the best appetizer for parties and game days.

For The Chicken

  • 3-4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts 6-8 oz sized breasts
  • 2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper or to taste
  • 1 tsp granulated garlic or to taste
  • water or chicken broth enough to cover the chicken in the pot

For the Buffalo Chicken Dip

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce or 1/3 cup for a milder taste
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 garlic cloves chopped and minced
  • 3 tbsp ranch seasoning mix
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 3/4 cups sharp cheddar cheese grated
  • green scallions chopped for garnishing


Cook The Chicken

  • Heat oil on medium high heat in a large pot.
  • Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper and granulated garlic.
  • Transfer the chicken to the pot and sear on both sides for 1-2 minutes just to give the chicken some color.
  • Add enough water or chicken broth to cover the chicken and bring to a boil.
  • Once the chicken begins boiling, reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches about 155 degrees F to 160 degrees F. The chicken will finish cooking in the oven.
  • Remove the chicken from the pan and shred with 2 forks or in a stand mixer.

Make The Buffalo Chicken Dip

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Melt the butter in the microwave in 30 second intervals. Set aside for now.
  • Finely chop and mince the garlic cloves.
  • In a large bowl, mix together melted butter, hot sauce, minced garlic, dry ranch seasoning and honey.
  • Add shredded chicken, cream cheese and 3/4 cup of cheddar cheese to the bowl. Toss in the buffalo sauce until fully coated.
  • Transfer the buffalo chicken mixture to a deep 7×11 baking dish.
  • Top with 1 cup of cheddar cheese and transfer to the oven. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20-25 minutes, broil for the last 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove your baked buffalo chicken dip from the oven and top with chopped green scallions. Serve immediately and enjoy.
