Equipment

  • silicone mold for hot cocoa bombs

Ingredients

  • 8 oz white chocolate 6 oz for hot chocolate bombs and 2 oz for the drizzle
  • 1/4 cup hot cocoa powder with marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows if desired
  • 2 tbsp sprinkles
  • 8 oz milk for each hot chocolate bomb

Instructions

  • First, start by melting your white chocolate. I melted mine in a bowl in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring each time until they were completely melted. It’s a great idea to have a chocolate thermometer for best results. White chocolate should be 110 degrees F for best results.
  • Next, use a silicone brush or spoon to spread the melted chocolate inside of your silicone molds.
  • Let your chocolate sit in the silicone mold for at least 5 minutes. Then, use your silicone brush or spoon again to spread out any extra chocolate that is sitting at the bottom of your silicone mold. Make sure each silicone mold is evenly coated and fill in any holes or thin areas.
  • Next, place the silicone mold in the freezer for 10-15 minutes to set.
  • Remove your silicone mold from the freezer and gently pop out each half-sphere and place on a plate.
  • Add your hot cocoa powder and marshmallows to only 3 of the half-spheres.
  • Heat a small pan over low heat. Take the empty half spheres one at a time and briefly touch the edges of the rim against the hot pan until it just starts to melt. Join the half-sphere with the melted rim with the half-sphere that has the hot chocolate inside of it to close your hot chocolate bomb. Hold in place for about 1 minute so they stick together.
  • Melt more white chocolate for the drizzle on top of the hot chocolate bombs.
  • Next, use a large spoon to place your melted chocolate inside of a piping bag or use a ziplock bag and cut a very small tip at the end. Gently drizzle the melted white chocolate over your hot chocolate bombs to form your pattern of choice.
  • Sprinkle heart shaped sprinkles or any other sprinkles of choice over your hot chocolate bombs. Allow them to rest undisturbed for about 10-15 minutes so the drizzle hardens up.
  • Finally, serve by placing one of your hot chocolate bombs into a mug and pouring hot milk over it. For best results, serve 8 oz of milk in each mug.
