Ingredients

  • Kielbasa – This recipe was made with fresh Polish kielbasa sausage.
  • Beer – Light beer works well for this recipe.
  • BBQ and Sweet Chili Sauce – Toss the roasted kielbasa sausage in sweet chili and barbecue sauce.
  • Brown Sugar – Whisk the brown sugar into the sweet chili and bbq sauce to give the sausage a candied effect.
  • Green Scallions – Garnish the candied sausage with chopped green scallions before serving.
The ingredients needed are fresh Polish sausage, light beer, sweet chili sauce, barbecue sauce and brown sugar.

How To Make Baked Candied Kielbasa

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Slice the kielbasa sausage into 1/2 inch pieces and transfer to a 9×13 baking dish.
  3. Pour beer into the baking dish with the sausage in it. Or replace the beer with water if you prefer.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, combine the bbq sauce, sweet chili sauce and brown sugar. Whisk together to combine.
  6. Remove the sausage from the oven and pour the bbq, sweet chili sauce over the kielbasa. Toss to combine and completely coat the sausage in the sauce.
  7. Increase the oven’s temperature to 400 degrees F and transfer the sausage back to the oven. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the sauce thickens, creating that candied effect.
  8. Remove from the oven and top with chopped green scallions if desired and serve immediately.

What’s The Best Sauce To Use?

For this recipe, I used Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ and sweet chili sauce. I love the flavor of these sauces and it’s one of my favorite brands to use for many of my recipes. However, you may use any brand you prefer for either one of these sauces.

Storing Suggestions

Store completely cooled leftover Polish sausage in an air tight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Warm up in the microwave until completely heated through when ready to enjoy again.

Candied, beer braised kielbasa is topped with green scallions then served as shown in the photo.

Recipe Notes

  • Replace the beer with water if you prefer.
  • Line the baking dish with aluminum foil for easier clean up.
  • This recipe was made with fresh kielbasa sausage. If using pre-cooked sausage, the cooking time will have to be reduced significantly and only baked until the sauce thickens.
