The first time I tried Butter Cake I was absolutely hooked! This cake is so soft and moist. It practically melts in your mouth! I just had to figure out a way to make butter cake at home for my family and I to enjoy whenever we wanted to. I make mine with a homemade brown sugar glaze that is irresistibly good! Top Tips & Variations for Making Butter Cake with Brown Sugar Glaze
- Make sure your butter, eggs and buttermilk are at room temperature for this recipe. Using cold ingredients will change the texture of your cake. It will also take a lot longer to bake if you use cold ingredients.
- You may omit the brown sugar glaze if you’d like. The butter cake is delicious on its’ own. However, I do love the crunchy, crystallized texture that the brown sugar glaze gives the cake once it has hardened up. This also seems to be my family’s favorite way of eating butter cake.
- At the 45 minutes mark of baking, keep an eye on your butter cake. Every oven is different and temperatures may vary. You’ll know it’s ready when you stick a toothpick down the middle and it comes out dry.
Butter Cake with Brown Sugar Glaze
This Butter Cake with Brown Sugar Glaze is out of this world delicious! I love serving it whenever we have guests over. The brown sugar glaze hardens up and creates this perfect crystallized, slightly crunchy texture on top of the cake. If you love a soft, moist crumb, this cake is for you!
