Why Is This Dish Called Crack Chicken?
The reason this dish is called crack chicken is very simple. Ranch seasoning is so good, it’s dangerous and can be highly addictive according to information that’s out there. I’m joking but sort of not. This dish combines 2 ingredients that people love, cheese and ranch. The name crack chicken was born because this meal is so good, it’s hard to stop eating it.
Tips & Variations
- Use a kitchen thermometer to measure the chicken’s temperature for doneness. The internal temperature should reach 165 degrees F.
- Use good quality cream cheese like the Philadelphia brand to ensure it melts properly. You won’t get the same outcome with some brands.
- Substitute the fresh bacon for store bought bacon bits if you prefer.

Hi
How can I make this if I don’t have a slow cooker/crockpot? Any suggestions? Thank you.
The Six Figure Dish
Hi Natalie, I recommend cooking the chicken after seasoning for 3-4 minutes on each side over medium high heat stove top just to brown it. Use 2 forks to shred the breasts then top with all the remaining ingredients and cook at 350 until all of the cheese melts. Make sure to give the softened cream cheese a good mix before topping the chicken with it so it spreads nicely over the chicken. You can also broil for the last 3 minutes. Then top with cooked bacon and scallions at the end. Hope you enjoy!
