Making instant pot turkey bone broth is one of the easiest things I’ve done. Simply add in your turkey carcass and some other veggies for flavoring and it’s done in just 3 hours. Normally making bone broth on the stove top or a slow cooker requires it to simmer for at least 24 hours. So you can imagine why I love using my instant pot for it. Plus, turkey bone broth makes the best soups and stews ever. Try it in this Instant Pot Chicken Gnocchi Soup or this Instant Pot Buffalo Chicken Soup.

Let’s Talk About The Ingredients
- Turkey Carcass – Use 1 whole turkey carcass and remove as much of the meat as possible.
- Celery and Carrot – Roughly chop the celery ribs and carrot into large chunks.
- Rosemary, Sage, Thyme, Bay Leaf, Garlic Clove, Parsley and Onion – You may use scraps from your Thanksgiving dinner or add these spices in new for flavoring.
- Lemon Juice – Helps to extract nutrients from the bones.
- Water – Fill the instant pot with water to the fill line.
Place all of the ingredients into the instant pot in order to make the turkey stock.
Pour the turkey stock through a strainer as seen in the photo below.
How To Make Instant Pot Turkey Bone Broth
- First, start by placing the turkey carcass inside of the instant pot. Remove the trivet for this recipe.
- Roughly chop the celery ribs and carrot into large chunks. Cut the onion in half, leaving the skin on.
- Add the carrot, celery, rosemary, sage, thyme, bay leaf, parsley, garlic clove, onion and lemon juice to the instant pot.
- Fill with water up to the fill line or about 2 inches from the lid if you don’t have a fill line.
- Cook on high pressure for 2 hours and allow the instant pot to release all of the pressure naturally which may take up to 1 hour.
- Open the lid and remove the inner pot. Strain the broth and reserve the liquid inside of a mason jar or air tight container.
- Refrigerate once completely cooled for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 6 months.
Recipe Notes
- If freezing inside of a mason jar or glass container, it’s important to leave a few inches of space between the liquid and the lid because the bone broth will expand once frozen which may cause the glass to break if there isn’t enough room. I personally like to freeze mine in ice cube trays to be on the safe side.
- It’s normal for there to be a jelly like substance at the top of the broth.
- Use turkey carcass broth to make a varieties of soups, stews or just add it into your everyday cooking.
- Lemon Juice is used to extract nutrients from the bone. It may also be substituted for apple cider vinegar.
- An 8 or 10 qt instant pot will work for this recipe.
