What Kind Of Bread Crumbs Should I Use?
I used plain Panko Bread Crumbs for this recipe. You may also use seasoned bread crumbs if you prefer.
Heating The Oil
The oil should not be too hot otherwise the onion rings will burn quickly. It shouldn’t be too low in temperature either or you’ll end up with a soggy texture. The perfect oil temperature for deep fried onion rings is about 365 – 370 degrees F. Use a deep frying thermometer for accurate results. It is also important not to over crowd the pot or it will drop the oil’s temperature. I do about 3-4 onion rings at a time.
Recipe Notes
- Use a deep frying thermometer for best results.
- Don’t over crowd the pan or the oil’s temperature will drop.
- The onions cook quickly so keep an eye one them.
- Sweet onions work best for this recipe.
