Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Breast

Make this juicy air fryer bbq chicken breast recipe in just 15 minutes. Season the chicken on all sides with a dry rub, cook right to the point then slather with lots of barbecue sauce before finishing it off.

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  • Pat dry each chicken breast with a paper towel.
  • In a bowl, combine the salt, pepper, granulated garlic, cayenne pepper, ground paprika and ground oregano. Mix to combine.
  • Season the chicken on all sides with the dry rub.
  • Spray the inside of the air fryer with a propellant free cooking spray.
  • Transfer the chicken breasts to the air fryer and cook at 375 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until a kitchen thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the breast reads at least 155-160 degrees F.
  • Brush the chicken with barbecue sauce on both sides and continue cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes or until the chicken is completely cooked through and the kitchen thermometer reads 165 degrees F.
  • Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

  • The chicken breasts used for this recipe were about 6 oz each. If using larger or smaller breasts, you will need to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
  • Cooking temperature and times may vary depending on the brand of your air fryer. Always check for doneness by inserting a kitchen thermometer into the thickest part of the breast. It should read 165 degrees F when safe to consume.
  • I used Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce to make this recipe.
  • Always read your air fryer manual before using it.
