Ingredients

  • 1 lb tilapia
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice 1 small lemon
  • 3 tsp blackened seasoning or to taste
  • fresh parsley for garnishing

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  • Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the tilapia fillets.
  • Pat dry the fish with a paper towel before seasoning.
  • Season the tilapia on all sides with blackened seasoning.
  • Spray the inside of the air fryer with this propellant-free avocado oil spray.
  • Transfer the tilapia fillets to the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees F for 8-10 minutes or until cooked through. There is no need to flip.
  • Use a spatula to remove the tilapia from the air fryer so the fish doesn’t break apart.
  • Top with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately over salad, in fish tacos or any other way you’d like.

Notes

  • You’ll know the fish fillets are ready once they flake easily with a fork.
  • This recipe was made with old bay blackened seasoning.
  • Patting the tilapia dry before seasoning will ensure the flavor really sticks to the fish while leaving behind a mild lemon flavor from the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  • Cook the fillets in batches so you don't overcrowd the air fryer.
  • Always read your air fryer manual before using it.
