Equipment

Ingredients

  • 3 cups jasmine rice rinsed
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt or according to taste
  • 1 garlic clove finely minced

Instructions

  • Finely mince the garlic clove and set aside for now.
  • Thoroughly rinse the rice in a fine mesh strainer, running your fingers through it until the water runs clear.
  • Add the rice, cold water, oil, salt and minced garlic to the instant pot. Stir everything together to mix, making sure to scrape any rice stuck to the sides of the inner pot.
  • Close the lid and cook on high pressure for 4 minutes. Allow the instant pot to naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes. Release any remaining pressure by engaging the quick release button.
  • Open the lid and fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

Notes

  • Minced garlic will add some flavor but you may omit it if you prefer.
  • Add salt according to taste.
  • An 8 qt instant pot was used for this recipe but it will also work in a 6 qt.
  • Always read your instant pot manual before using it.
