What is the Easiest Way to Peel Fresh Peaches?
- First, start off by boiling a large pot of water. Once the water has reached a boil, reduce the heat to low and wait for the water to simmer.
- Make sure you prepare an ice bath ahead of time. Add 3-4 cups of ice cubes to a large bowl with cold water.
- Next, add your peaches to the hot water for only 30-45 seconds.
- Remove from the hot water and immediately place into the cold water bath. Use your fingers to easily peel the skin off of your fresh peaches.
Tips & Variations for Making Slow Cooker Peach Cobbler
- If you can’t find fresh peaches at the supermarket, you may used canned peaches. Make sure you omit the sugar and water and add them as is to the slow cooker.
- The best way to check if your peach cobbler is cooked through is to stick a toothpick down the middle of the cobbler. Do not insert the toothpick all the way in or you will reach the peaches. You only want to insert it into the cobbler topping. Make sure the toothpick does not have any batter clinging to it. That’s when you’ll know it’s ready.
- You may also cook your slow cooker peach cobbler on low for 5-6 hours.
- It is very important not to forget to place the paper towel under your lid. I would recommend changing the paper towel every 1-1.5 hours for the best results. The paper towel catches the condensation so the top of your cobbler can cook appropriately. Skipping this step may result in a mushy cobbler.
- I always serve mine with vanilla ice cream but feel free to use whatever ice cream you prefer or have on hand.
