How to Make Slow Cooker S’mores Dip
- Begin by spraying the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray. This will prevent your chocolate and marshmallows from sticking to your slow cooker.
- Break up your chocolate bars into smaller pieces so they can easily fit into your slow cooker. Layer them at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Top off your chocolate with the large marshmallows.
- Cook your s’mores dip on low for 1 1/2 – 2 hours. Set to keep warm setting once done.
- Serve with graham crackers or fruits for dipping.
I love making this s’more dip in the slow cooker. I use the keep warm function to ensure the chocolate stays nice and melted while we’re eating. The heavy duty lid on the slow cooker also helps to retain heat in the pot. This is great because you can take your slow cooker outside to your fire pit and eat your s’mores dip there without worrying about the chocolate cooling down.
Variations & Tips for Making Slow Cooker S’mores Dip
- For this recipe, I combined both semi-sweet dark chocolate and milk chocolate. I find that they blend very well together. The sweetness from the milk chocolate balances out the bitterness from the dark chocolate and vice versa. However, if you don’t feel like buying 2 different types of chocolate or just have one of the two on hand, that’s perfectly fine! If you’re using only milk chocolate, your s’mores dip will be even sweeter. On the other hand, if you use only semi-sweet dark chocolate, your s’mores dip will have a stronger chocolate taste.
- I recommend keeping an eye on your slow cooker s’mores dip after it’s been cooking for 1 1/2 hours. You don’t want your chocolate at the bottom to burn. Take a spoon and lightly stir the chocolate at the bottom to ensure it is not stuck to the bottom of your slow cooker. There are so many different brands of slow cookers out there, so cooking times may vary for that reason.
- You may use chocolate chips instead of the chocolate bars. I kept it traditional and used the chocolate bars as I would if I made a regular s’mores.
