Enjoy a homemade spicy jalapeno margarita cocktail on your next day off. I made this cocktail recipe with a homemade version of jalapeno simple syrup that’s made with just 3 ingredients. That means it’s got the right amount of heat with a little sweetness, but can be adjusted to taste. Spicy margaritas are perfect for parties and pair well with almost any meal. And if you love making margaritas with a twist, try this key lime margarita next time.

Ingredients

  • Jalapeño Simple Syrup – Make this easy spicy simple syrup at home with only 3 ingredients, unless you can find a store bought version.
  • Lime Juice – Freshly squeezed lime juice works well when making a spicy jalapeno margarita.
  • Tequila – A good quality Tequila works best for this recipe, like this 1800 silver below.
  • Triple Sec – I like using triple sec, but any orange flavored liquor will work.
The ingredients needed are jalapeno simple syrup, tequila, lime juice and triple sec.

How To Make Spicy Jalapeno Margarita

  1. Chill the margarita glasses in the freezer for up to 1 hour. This step is optional.
  2. Coat the rim of the glass with jalapeno simple syrup and immediately dip in salt.
  3. Fill the glasses with ice.
  4. Combine the jalapeno simple syrup, lime juice, tequila and triple sec in a cocktail shaker and shake well to combine.
  5. Finally, pour into the glasses and serve immediately.

Want It Spicier?

Make this cocktail even spicier by adding more fresh slices of jalapeños to the bottom of the glass. Muddle the slices and pour in the drink. Additionally, you can make a mild version of this cocktail by completely omitting the jalapeno slices.

Recipe Notes

  • Add the jalapeños from the simple syrup to the margaritas if you like it very spicy.
  • I recommend using a good quality Tequila to make this drink.
  • Coarse sea salt works best for coating the glasses.
  • Garnish with jalapeno slices or sliced lime if desired.
  • As always, make sure to drink responsibly.
