These air fryer swordfish steaks are perfect for busy weeknights. Pair them with these easy air fried fingerling potatoes or a simple side salad. I seasoned the swordfish steaks with this homemade spicy adobo seasoning but you can keep it simple with a little lemon juice, salt, pepper and garlic powder if you prefer.

Air fryer swordfish steak is made in under 15 minutes. It's great for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

  • Swordfish Steaks – Fresh or frozen swordfish is fine.
  • Homemade Spicy Adobo Seasoning – Make this homemade spice blend or season according to taste with your own spices of choice.
  • Lemon Juice – Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the swordfish before seasoning.
The ingredients needed for this recipe are swordfish steaks, adobo seasoning and lemon juice.

Spray the air fryer with a propellant free cooking spray like avocado oil or olive oil and transfer the fish to cook.

Spray the air fryer with propellant free cooking spray and transfer the fish to cook as seen in this photo.

How To Make Air Fryer Swordfish

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  2. Pat dry the swordfish steaks with a paper towel. This will help the fish absorb all of the flavors from the seasoning and lemon juice.
  3. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the fish and season on both sides with spicy adobo seasoning or your own seasoning blend of choice.
  4. Spray the inside of the air fryer with a propellant free cooking spray. Avocado or olive oil works well.
  5. Transfer the fish to the air fryer and cook at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes, flipping half way.
  6. Serve with more lemon juice and top with fresh parsley if desired before serving.

Checking For Doneness

Check if the air fryer swordfish steak is cooked through by inserting a fork down the center of the fish. If it flakes easily, it’s ready. Additionally, you may use a kitchen thermometer to check that the internal temperature of the swordfish has reached 145 degrees F for well done.

This air fryer swordfish steak recipe was cooked to well done. Reduce the cooking time for medium to medium well.

Recipe Notes

  • This recipe for air fryer swordfish was cooked to well done at an internal temperature of about 145 degrees F. Reduce the cooking time if you prefer your fish steaks cooked to medium or medium well.
  • If you don’t like adobo seasoning, simply substitute with your own spice blend. Salt, pepper, garlic powder and a little lemon juice is simple but still delicious.
  • Always read your air fryer manual before using it.
