Bring in the fall season with this warm and delicious air fryer apple crumble.

It’s practically mandatory to serve warm air fried apple crumble with vanilla ice cream and a caramel drizzle. And if you haven’t tried eating it this way, you’ll thank me later. My favorite part is that delicious crunchy topping with just a hint of cinnamon and brown sugar. If you’re looking for more baking ideas for your air fryer this fall season, then try these Air Fryer Apple Turnovers and these delicious Air Fryer Twix Cupcakes which you can make with all of that extra Halloween candy.

Let’s Talk About The Ingredients

  • Canned Apple Pie Filling – I wanted to make sure this recipe was as easy as possible so I’m using canned apple pie filling to accomplish this. You can certainly substitute for homemade if you prefer.
  • Apple Pie Spice – Mix together the apple pie filling and apple pie spice in a bowl.
  • Flour, Salt, Cinnamon, Brown Sugar – Mix all of the dry ingredients together in a bowl first.
  • Oats – Quick cooking oats work best for this recipe.
  • Butter – Use cold butter.
Place the filling inside of the baking dish as seen in the picture.

Transfer the apple crisp to the air fryer and cook.

How To Make Air Fryer Apple Crumble

  1. First, start by preheating the air fryer to 350 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  2. Grease the baking dish.
  3. In a bowl combine the apple pie filling and apple pie spice and add it to the baking dish.
  4. In a mixing bowl or stand mixer, combine the flour, oats, salt, cinnamon, brown sugar and butter.
  5. Mix together until you have pea sized pieces of butter. This will be your crumble or crisp topping.
  6. Spoon the crumble mixture over the apple pie filling in the baking dish.
  7. Transfer to the air fryer and cook at 350 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and serve warm with some vanilla ice cream and a caramel drizzle.
An easy dessert for the fall season.

What Kind Of Baking Dish Should I Use?

For this recipe, I am using this oven safe ceramic ramekin baking dish. I have a 7 qt air fryer and it fit perfectly so make sure the baking dish you’re using is the right size for your air fryer and is deep enough to hold all of the ingredients needed to make the apple crisp.

What Is Apple Pie Spice?

Apple pie spice is a combination of cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cardamom and ginger. I find it in the spice aisle at my local grocery store or you may also find it in the seasonal aisle during the fall season. If you can’t find it, you may also purchase it from here.

Using Fresh Apples

You can still make this recipe using fresh apples. Peel and slice the apples and mix them together in a bowl with the apple pie spice, about 2 tsp of lemon juice and 1-2 tbsp of brown sugar. You’ll have to bake the apples in the air fryer first to soften them. I’d recommend cooking them at 350 degrees F for about 8-12 minutes but check on them frequently so they don’t over cook. You’ll need about 3-4 fresh apples. Once you’ve cooked the apples, you may add the crumble topping and finish cooking according to the recipe.

An easy air fried dessert made with apples and served with ice cream and caramel.

Recipe Notes

  • This baking dish worked well for this recipe. I do have a 7 qt air fryer so just make sure that if you have a smaller one, you’re using a baking dish that fits and is deep enough to hold all of the ingredients.
  • Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer’s brand so check on it occasionally towards the end of the cooking process.
  • Use cold, unsalted butter.
  • Always read your air fryer’s manual before using it.
