This homemade brown sugar glaze recipe is perfect for all of your desserts like cake, donuts and so much more. I originally made it when I made my famous butter cake which is always a hit. But you can use it for almost anything because it’s also great for glazed ham or even pork chops. All you need are a few ingredients that you probably have on hand.

Ingredients

  • Brown Sugar and Powdered Sugar – Whisk the sugars together over medium heat until combined with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Butter and Milk – Fully melt the butter in the pan together with the sugars and some milk.
  • Vanilla and Almond Extract – Adds some flavor to the glaze recipe.
The ingredients needed for this recipe are brown sugar, powdered sugar, butter, milk, almond extract and vanilla extract.

Add the ingredients to the pan according to the recipe and mix well until the brown sugar glaze has thickened.

How To Make Brown Sugar Glaze

  1. Melt the butter in a small sauce pan over medium heat.
  2. Add the milk, powdered sugar and brown sugar. Whisk together until fully combined and bubbling, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract and almond extract. Continue cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes or until the brown sugar glaze has thickened.
  4. Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely before topping all of your favorite cakes, cookies and donuts with the glaze.

Recipe Notes

  • Cooking times may vary depending on how small or large the pan is.
  • The almond extract adds some nice flavor but if you don’t like it, simply omit from the recipe.
  • This recipe works well with either dark brown sugar or light brown sugar.
