All you need is 4 ingredients that you might just have at home to make this fresh strawberry shake. This recipe can be made with fresh strawberries or frozen. If you do decide to use fresh strawberries, just make sure you chop them and freeze them first. Freezing the strawberries will ensure you have the best, creamy texture for your homemade milkshake. An Explanation Of The Ingredients

  • Strawberries – Fresh or frozen strawberries will both work very well for this recipe.
  • Strawberry Ice Cream – Creamy strawberry ice cream will give this milkshake an extra boost of flavor.
  • Vanilla Ice cream – Balance out all of the strawberry flavor with some vanilla ice cream.
  • Milk – I used whole milk for this recipe but you can use any other milk you prefer.
This fresh and homemade strawberry milkshake recipe is made with 4 ingredients. It's made with frozen strawberries and strawberry ice cream.

How To Make A Strawberry Milkshake

  1. If using fresh strawberries for this recipe, make sure to roughly chop and freeze them for at least 2 hours. Otherwise store bought frozen strawberries will work just fine.
  2. In a blender, combine the strawberries, vanilla ice cream, strawberry ice cream and milk.
  3. Blend on high speed until completely smooth.
  4. Chop fresh strawberries for garnishing if desired and serve with whipped cream.

Can I Skip The Strawberry Ice Cream?

If you don’t have strawberry ice cream, you can certainly skip out on it. I love a delicious strawberry milkshake made with strawberry ice cream and topped with lots of whipped cream. But, of course you can simply make it with vanilla ice cream only. Just substitute the measurements of the strawberry ice cream with vanilla ice cream instead and you’re good to go. You can also play around with this recipe and make a strawberry milkshake according to your preference.

I recommend enjoying your fresh strawberry shake immediately. However, if you do have leftovers, simply store them in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day.

Recipe Notes

  • Use fresh or frozen strawberries for this recipe. If you decide to use fresh, simply hull them and give them a rough chop first. Freeze them in a zip loc bag or container for at least 2 hours before making your shake.
  • I recommend using a powerful blender for this recipe, like this one. If you have a blender that has trouble blending frozen fruit, just give the strawberries a rough chop before adding them into your blender.
  • Whipped cream is optional but will definitely bring your shake to the next level.
  • I used whole milk for this recipe, but you may use any milk you prefer.
